A New Coach

So last year I pretty much was winging all my running, biking and swimming. Just doing them when I felt like it. So if it was super cold out I opted out of the early morning bike rides. My runs were runs at the same pace about as long as I felt like running for. Swims were non-stop without any drills or sets. It surprisingly worked out and I did decent at my races. I thank my weight training coach for that. But now things are a changin'

I've made the leap and hired a triathlon specific coach. She sent me the first week schedule and my jaw dropped. It's wayyyyy more mileage than I normally do. The only thing I have done is one of her swim workouts. I may or may not have gone into work like Liz Lemon this morning.

And that was just after one workout. Next week should be interesting.

But fear not I am sticking with weight training. I truly believe that is fundamental to staying injury free and getting faster. That's just how I roll though. Plus I am kinda like the girl below. I get asked to do the lifting at work. Huzzah!

Also my life just got even better. My oh so wonderful friend Mackenzie moved back to Orange County. Which means you better watch out because we will be hitting up those bars and dance floors. If you see us I like red wine and she likes beer.

  1. That is so cool that you hired your own coach :) Don't worry the workouts will get easier once you get to know them. Trust me.

    1. I was bound to hurt myself at some point by just doing my schedule random style. Hopefully this coach gets my training to a new level.

  3. Likely a good call that you hired a coach, that is probably something that I should do to avoid getting hurt in the future and to completely heal my body up. Good luck with it!

    1. Yeah I don't want to hurt myself. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen with a coach.

  4. Having a coach is great! Frees up a lot of time and ensures you actually benefit from each workout rather than just logging time.
